Shalamar would go on the find continued success with the songs “Dancing in the sheets” and “Don’t get stopped in Beverly Hills”. In those years, Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniel left the group for solo careers and were replaced by Delisa Davis and Micki Free. The arrival of Howard Hewett with Watley and Daniel was the most successful line-up.īetween 19, the band scored several British hits including “A night to remember”, “There it is” and “Dead giveaway”. The next two records by Shalamar, “Disco gardens” and “Big fun”, saw a change of line-up. Their first hit was “Uptown festival”, a Motown medley recorded at Ike & Tina Turner’s studio Bolic Sound in 1976.
